Hello all,

I took a break from my Italy series last fall to work on some commissions for the holidays. I’ve also been doing web development work (art is great, but art alone doesn’t pay like IT does :), so that impacted my painting schedule a bit. In any case, I’ve got a few little ones and a bigger one to share with you.

First up is “Sunset from the Ponte Vecchio,” 6x8″, oil on linen hardboard. I love the Ponte Vecchio (“Ponte” is “bridge” in Italian). It’s kind of a tourist trap, but it offers spectacular sunsets. I loved the colors in this scene.

If you are interested in this piece, it’s available here.

Next up is “Late Afternoon Stroll in Rome.” It’s also 6x8″, oil on linen hardboard. This was from a reference photo while wandering around Rome. I loved the way the dark alley contrasted with the late afternoon sky, and the glow of the neon lights on the cobblestones.

If you are interested in this piece, it’s available here.

Next up is another 6x8″, oil on linen hardboard, entitled “Study for ‘Venetian Dining.'” I did this one as class prep for my adult painting lessons. I loved the way the little one came out so much that I did a bigger, 14x18″ piece as the demo during the ensuing lesson. I loved the primary colors in this scene, and the warm glow of the buildings in the dark.

If you are interested in this piece, it’s available here.

Here’s the larger version of “Venetian Dining,” 14x18″, oil on linen hardboard. I started this one as a demo for one of my recent adult painting classes and finished it up shortly therafter.

If you are interested in this piece, it’s available here.

And finally, here’s the video I promised. I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed painting them!
